The 2023 vintage is soon to be a historic vintage in Napa, after several dry years, winter brought substantial rainfall and replenished the soils. Spring and summer stayed unusually cool, with a light June rain and relatively little heat stress. Budbreak, bloom, and veraison all came later than usual, allowing the fruit to develop slowly. Harvest ran from September 9 through October 24, with each block picked when it reached the desired balance of ripeness and freshness.
