With the 2023 vintage, Double Diamond changes identity: once a proprietary red, it is now bottled as an Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. Most of the fruit comes from the To Kalon Vineyard, from blocks chosen by Thomas Rivers Brown, and a small share from Wappo Hill rounds out a wine that is otherwise nearly all Oakville. The style is lively rather than heavy. Cassis, black cherry and blueberry sit alongside brighter red fruit, with wild sage, cedar, oak spice and a floral top note. It is medium-bodied, with grippy tannins and brisk acidity that keeps it lifted through the finish. Critics see it drinking well from the mid-2020s through the mid-2030s. Pour it with dry-aged ribeye, rosemary lamb chops or a wild mushroom risotto.

Jeb Dunnuck
94 Points
94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com: "Almost all Oakville with a splash of Wappo Hill, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is a smoking red that longtime Napa lovers will adore. Red and black fruits, spicy wood, flowers, and cedar nuances all emerge from the glass, and it's medium-bodied, with a pure, layered, seamless profile that has tons to love. Drink this balanced effort any time over the coming 8-10 years. Drink 2025-2035. (Drink between 2025-2035)" 12/25

95 Points, Jim Gordon, JamesSuckling.com: "A beautiful, luscious, easy-sipping red that goes deep in red and black fruit on a silky texture. Dark plums, black cherries, dark chocolate, cocoa and hints of red flowers, iron and graphite. Soft, resolved tannins and a lingering finish. Drink now or hold." 08/25
