Wine Advocate

94+ Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Brazen-colored and slightly reddish (but not orange!), the 2012 Gruenspiel is a fascinatingly powerful, tautly structured and persistent wine from a complantation of Riesling, Pinot Noir and Gewrztraminer, on a dark and very warm soil where sediments of sandstone, granite and occasionally gneiss rest on a deep Keuper marl matrix. Cool and discreet on the smoky, darker toned nose, this is a rich and complex, highly elegant, velvety textured and superbly balanced white wine for lovers of Pinot Noir. Small, thick-skinned and well concentrated berries on the palate give concentration and a good acidity, as well as a slightly tannic structure so that the sweetness of the 2012 is not dominating. Serve this tension-filled and persistent wine with its expressively salty finish in a black glass and with a moderate temperature of 12-13° C. I bet that your guests won't be sure about what they are drinking. In fact, the Gruenspiel does not care about colors because it is another great terroir wine from the amphitheater of Bergheim." 10/15
