17.5 Points, Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com: "73% Pinot Noir, 27% Chardonnay, from mainly late-ripening terroirs on the Montagne de Reims. Product of a cold, rainy spring followed by a hot, sunny summer. After 7 years' ageing on lees the wine saw a dosage of 4 g/l. I'm not quite sure why this wine is named after a famous bomber (WW2 aircraft rather than person). Lively and more floral than many a Bollinger champagne – almost transparent and filigree. The opposite of heavy with marked but not excessive acidity at this stage. Much is happening at the house of Bollinger under chef de cave Denis Bunner! B13 Brut preceded it.
