Critic Reviews

Neal Martin
92-94 Points
92-94 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2025 Rouget, which uses 30% vinification intégrale and was raised for 18 months in oak, has a relatively light and open-knit bouquet with black cherries, cassis and light violet scents, less powerful than recent vintages of Rouget. The palate is smooth on the entry, well balanced, not amazingly complex, but it feels harmonious and hats off to the silliness that comes through on the finish. This is a fine Rouget that will give a lot of pleasure over the next 15 to 20 years." 05/26
Jeb Dunnuck
92-94 Points
92-94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com: "A rich, well-oaked Pomerol, the 2025 Château Rouget offers a solid nose of spicy black cherries, red plums, graphite, and vanilla. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with ample mid-palate depth, ripe tannins, and beautiful overall balance. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc that's being raised 18 months in 20% new barrels, it checks in at 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.65. I like it!" 05/26
Decanter
95 Points
95 Points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter: "Lovely aromatics, floral and open on the nose with ripe blackcurrant and plum fruit as well as a cedar and cinnamon edges. Juicy and upfront, this has such a bright opening with clarity to the bramble fruit and acidity that drives the wine forward. Perfumed and pure, very classy and drinkable. Lovely hands off approach." 03/26
James Suckling
94-95 Points
94-95 Points, Jacobo Garcia Andrade, JamesSuckling.com: "This is medium- to full-bodied, compact and balanced, with focused tannins that add definition. Delicate and precise expression of fruit." 04/26
Antonio Galloni
94-96 Points
94-96 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2025 Rouget is a very sexy wine. Floral, silky and nuanced, the 2025 is superb. Rose petal, mint, mocha and lovely red toned fruit lend tons of sensuality. The less extracted style these days and lower oak impact yield a Pomerol of total finesse and nuance. Superb." 04/26
Jane Anson
92 Points
92 Points, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux: "Intense, concentrated, deep dark and sweet berry fruits, this is good quality if lacking in a little lift through the finish, muscular and sinewy, with clear Porimol character, and an oyster shell twist on the finish." 04/26
