The Granja Remelluri Gran Reserva spends at least seven years at the estate before release and is made only in the best vintages, 2014 among them. The fruit comes solely from Remelluri's own plots in three valleys around the winery, Remelluri, Valderremelluri and Villaescusa, where vines grow on poor limestone terraces. Telmo Rodriguez makes the wine: grapes from organic, biodynamically treated vineyards are hand-picked into 16 kg crates, fermented with native yeasts in small wooden tubs, and aged 26 months in French oak barrels of mixed sizes and ages. Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano share the blend. Expect dark cherry, black plum, liquorice and cedar with a touch of vanilla, then a full yet graceful palate with rounded tannins and a long, layered finish. Rabbit braised with peppers, chorizo-studded lentils, or aged Manchego would all suit.

94 Points, Luis Gutiérrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I tasted the 2014 Granja Remelluri Gran Reserva from a year that wasn't easy. Like 2013, which vintage I was able to compare this with in my earlier tasting, 2014 was also a late harvest with rain, and they also had to sort and select the grapes and ended up bottling a small quantity, 9,860 bottles instead of the usual 20,000 or so. It's a little riper than the 2013, but it feels very complete. This is a red for the long run, and I am truly impressed by its texture and the quality of the tannins. I see a jump in quality here, hopefully the direction the wines are going to develop in the future. It was bottled in May 2017 after close to 30 months in barrel." 10/20
