Today, father and daughter manage the winery. Steffen has 25 years of experience and knows every step in the winery. Sophie has joined in 2018 and brought ideas from around the world. They are united by one common goal: namely, traditionally produced wines that taste like Christmann and their origins in the Palatinate. The Idig is one of the most excellent vineyards of the Palatinate. Through our monopoly ownership, it represents the core of our estate. The wines produced here are among the style defining wines of the category “Großes Gewächs” and are celebrated worldwide year after year With 2.8 ha, the major part of our vineyard area in Idig is planted with Riesling. Here are old vines, some of which are ungrafted, but also younger vines. The best pieces are the Kalkbuckel (limestone hump) around the pavilion, as well as the Rolandsberg and the adjoining terrace.

Full-bodied, dense and textural on the palate if not mellow due to its origin and a yeasty layer with remarkably fine tannins, this is a dense and persistently saline as well as savory Riesling with a long Pinot Noir like finish. It's still a little bit astringent but very promising. 12% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in December 2023" 12/23
