Ribera del Duero Picaro Tinto Dominio del Aguila 2022 (750ML)

Whole, unstemmed clusters are trodden by foot and fermented on native yeast for this Tinto, the red partner to Dominio del Águila's Pícaro Clarete, then go through malolactic and 19 months in oak barrels, with no fining or clarification. Jorge Monzón, who interned at DRC in Burgundy, ages it in 15th-century cellars dug into the bedrock beneath La Aguilera. The blend is Tempranillo-led, co-fermented with Albillo, Garnacha and Bobal from gravel-and-clay parcels chosen to suit each season. In warm, dry 2022 the team leaned on more white grapes for freshness, and the wine finished with a lower pH than the 2021. Blackberry, blueberry and dark cherry mingle with vanilla and sweet spice, carried by dry, chalky tannins in a fresher, less extracted take on Ribera. Pair it with roast suckling lamb, grilled chorizo or aged Manchego.
