Trinity Ridge Vineyard sits on the back side of the Mayacamas range in the Moon Mountain AVA, looking down over Sonoma Valley, and it is farmed by Phil Coturri. Its volcanic soils and the Wente clone, with loose clusters and plenty of phenolic grip, shape a Chardonnay that holds on to its acidity. Patria presses the fruit as whole clusters, ferments it on native yeasts in oak and keeps it on the lees, intervening as little as possible. The 2024 is medium- to full-bodied, its rich, creamy texture held in line by a taut mineral core. Struck flint opens the nose, followed by citrus oil and ripe orchard fruit. Seared scallops, lobster with drawn butter or a wedge of aged Comté all suit it.
