Critic Reviews

Wine Advocate
91 Points
91 Points, Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, now in bottle, has a very open and quite fruit-driven bouquet, ample raspberry and crushed strawberry aromas, hints of fennel and wild mint emerging with time, complex and with more personality than the 2013. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red cherry and blackberry fruit, a fine line of acidity, quite structured but I find this more expressive and terroir-driven than the backward 2013 at the moment." 12/16
Vinous Media
91-93 Points
91-93 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "(15% new oak; Mugnier made an approximation of the final blend): Bright, dark red. Sexy aromas of red cherry liqueur and spices. Sappy and rich for this cuvée, conveying lovely mineral thrust to the red fruit flavors. Finishes perfumed and very long, with fine-grained tannins and serious breadth. A lovely example of this wine, but Mugnier says the 2005 is still the best vintage for Clos de la Maréchale, nothing that "it's showing well now even if it's still young." 01/16
Burghound
91 Points
91 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "A perfumed and once again cool and airy nose displays notes of red currant, cherry and warm earth. There is excellent intensity to the energetic middle weight flavors that possess good precision on the firm and dusty but not really rustic finish that delivers excellent persistence. This balanced effort is a bit more structured than it typically is and will definitely require a few years before it will be approachable." 01/17
