Five vineyards feed the 2023 Affinites: Spirit Hill, Von Oehsen, Pearlstad, L'Angolo and Bishop Creek, gathered under the broad Willamette Valley appellation. The Chardonnay spent 13 months in French oak, 26% of it new. A whisper of reduction gives way to Asian pear, almond, chamomile and a dusting of ginger, with wet stone and white flowers behind. The palate is round and silky, generous with ripe orchard fruit and peach, but a firm line of acidity keeps it taut, and the finish turns toward lemon and nectarine with a faint tang of sea salt. Critics find it open now and expect it to drink well through somewhere between 2029 and 2035. Roast chicken with tarragon, seared scallops in brown butter, or aged Comté would all show it well.

93 Points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com: "From a blend of sites, including Bishop Creek, Spirit Hill, Von Oehsen, Pearlstad, and L’Angolo, the 2023 Chardonnay Affinites presents a bright yellow color and is a lovely blended wine with very subtle light reduction, featuring notes of wet stones, salted pineapple, and candied lemon. Aged in 26% new French oak for 13 months, it’s full-bodied and light on its feet, with an elegant and delicate chalky texture and a refreshing feel that’s also approachable now. Drink 2025-2032." 08/25

93 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous: "The 2023 Chardonnay Affinites wafts up with a pleasantly rich blend of almond custard, chamomile and gingery spice. Elegance and a soothingly round feel define the palate, with silken textures and opulently ripe orchard fruit balanced by a core of stimulating acidity. The 2023 finishes with tension, leaving behind nuances of nectarine and a lemony concentration that curls the tongue." 07/25
