A vintage with all the characteristics of the great years. The vintage’s freshness and balance are combined with dazzling fruit and a velvety texture. The Merlots, with the dry and warm June and July, are fleshy, round, and aromatic. After the rains at the end of September, the Cabernets finish refining their tannins, preserving the freshness, and thus offering extraordinary complexity, dense dark fruits and a beautiful silkiness.

Decanter
95 Points
95 Points, Jane Anson, Decanter: "A successful and accomplished vintage at Malartic Lagravière, this is concentrated and upfront in its dark berry fruits, great control from the tannins, and tons of Pessac character and finesse. An estate that has become a serious heavyweight in the appellation, showing here gourmet, saline, precise character. 65% new oak. A yield of 46hl/ha. Harvest September 17 to October 11." 5/20

97 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "Aromas of grilled pineapple, clove, lemon peel, lime pith and green mango. White pepper, crushed stones and some cedar, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with bright acidity. Layered and very long. Serious white. Needs time to open and show more Exceptional form here. Drink from 2023." 01/22

"The 2019 Malartic Lagravière presents a refined nose of blackberry, raspberry, cedar and light estuarine aromas, very well defined and focused. The palate is framed by fine-grained tannins, and the pure blackberry and raspberry notes are laced with blood orange. Maybe just a little more granular in texture than before, but still wonderfully balanced, with great length and nobility. This will age with style. A sophisticated Pessac-Léognan with a lot of potential." 02/22

92+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate: "Aromas of raspberries, blackcurrants, charcoal and forest floor preface the 2019 Malartic Lagravière, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming wine that's lively and elegant, built around bright acids and fine, powdery tannins. This has turned out nicely in bottle and shows good potential for improvement in the cellar." 04/22

"The 2019 Malartic Lagravière is a showy, voluptuous wine. Racy and explosive, the 2019 certainly makes a strong first impression. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, new leather, spice and licorice abound. As always, Malartic is a pretty forward, succulent Pessac-Léognan, but the 2019 is a bit strict today. Whether that is the vintage speaking or a slight change in style, we will see." 02/22
