Critic Reviews
James Suckling
93-94 Points
93-94 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "A juicy and structured red with black currant, black cherry and hints of dark chocolate with some crushed stone. Medium-bodied, creamy tannins. Very typical. A blend of 62% merlot, 34% cabernet sauvignon and 4% cabernet franc." 05/26
Neal Martin
92-94 Points
92-94 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2025 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is maturing in 50% new oak for a planned 15 months. This has a relatively light bouquet that unfolds in the glass, mainly black fruit, cracked black pepper, pencil shavings and bay leaf. Just a light briny sea spray scent sits in the back seat. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins, fine acidity, gentle grip and a balanced, off-dry finish that lingers in the mouth. A step up from the previous vintage." 05/26
Wine Advocate
90-92 Points
90-92 Points, Yohan Castaing, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2025 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron, a blend of 62% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc (50% new oak), reveals aromas of spice, dark berries, cedar and licorice, with well-integrated oak. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and structured, it’s built around a fleshy core of fruit framed by youthful tannins and concludes with a long, ethereal finish. It's a classical expression at this address, combining the brightness and density inherent to the vintage." 04/26
Jane Anson
94 Points
94 Points, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux: "This is highly appealing, a little more Merlot in the blend and certainly it gives a ripe roundness but the location of these Merlots always adds structure also. Energy, black fruit, campfire, very enjoyable. 50% new oak. 3.67 pH." 04/26
Antonio Galloni
92-94 Points
92-94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2025 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is absolutely gorgeous. Broad, ample and creamy in the glass, the 2025 is seriously beautiful right out of the gate. Black cherry, plum, new leather, licorice, incense and mocha flesh out the layers effortlessly. The blend is 62% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, but the Cabernets really drive the flavor profile and structure. The Griffons might very well be the star of the show this year, given its quality and price. Élevage is projected to be 15 months, with 50% new wood." 04/26
Jeb Dunnuck
93-94 Points
93-94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com: "Checking in as a Merlot-dominant blend of 62% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2025 Les Griffons De Pichon Baron offers up terrific though more Cabernet-driven aromatics of cassis, juicy black cherries, sappy flowers, and violets on the nose, with some serious Pauillac graphite and lead pencil nuances showing up with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it's balanced and concentrated, with integrated acidity and ripe tannins. It will spend 15 months in equal parts new and one-vintage-old barrels and checks in at 13.2% alcohol with a pH of 3.67." 05/26
Decanter
94 Points
94 Points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter: "Supple and so friendly and generous straight away, charming, fleshy and ripe, chewy even, but balanced by a really juicy, strawberry, red berry succulent and mouthwatering acidity. But ending on a flint, wet stone finish so you really get a three part wine here – chewy and upfront, bright and energetic and crisp and mineral. Cool, liquorice and cola too. Such great purity of fruit and detail on show. Texturally it’s great. Elegant." 03/26
