Enthralling scents of white truffle, hazelnut, almonds and candied citrus fruits. On the palate, there are notes of honey, almonds, a hint of toast, and a finish of incredible length. The texture is silky and quite fleshy but remains surprisingly delicate for this great Champagne. Composed of 120 different wines from 10 vintages, with 2003 as the pillar and the oldest being 1988. 37% reserve wines. Dosage: 4.5g/L. (Drink between 2021-2030)

Disgorged summer 2013. 44% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, 21% Pinot Meunier. Based on 2006 with reserves going back to 1990. 142 different wines! Mid straw. Intense nose demands attention. Savoury. Pretty explosive texture. Bone-dry finish. This is so different from – more complex than – most champagnes! A wine to contemplate that works towards the finish like a great burgundy, but it’s definitely not mouthwash for a big reception. Very long. 12%

97 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "A beautiful array of complex toastiness fresh and roasted mushrooms lemon tangerine and peach with honeysuckle and some spicy elements too. The complexity and comfortingly rich warming aromatic depth is in full song. The palate has vivacious rich orange grapefruit peach and lemon rind with some exotic moments and spicy flashes too. There's a distinctive plush and alluringly long grapefruit and hazelnut finish."
