95 Points, Panel Tatsing, Decanter: "(NV Fonseca, 20 Year Old Tawny, Port, Douro, Portugal, Red) Today it is part of the Fladgate Partnership – alongside Taylor’s, Croft and Wiese & Krohn – but like many of the Port houses Fonseca has a rich history, founded in 1815 by João dos Santos Fonseca. The house declared its first vintage back in 1840, but the wine itself only became popular 20 years later. Fonseca has built its reputation on consistently high-quality wines. The company attributes this to the continuity of family involvement, the long history of working in the vineyards, and the knowledge and skill passed down from one generation to the next. RM Soft and savoury, with engaging creamy fruit flavours ferrying onto a long, suave and seductive finish. RS Beautifully integrated nose of cocoa and orange peel unveils a syrupy palate brimming with nutty, toffee and red fruit characters. The finish is warm but very complex, long and structured.
