Critic Reviews

Antonio Galloni
94-96 Points
94-96 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2025 Cantenac Brown is quite the powerhouse. Dark and ample in feel, the 2025 offers gorgeous presence and class to burn. Crème de cassis, new leather, lavender, menthol, licorice and mocha are some of the many notes that open with a bit of coaxing. There's tremendous substance and stuffing here. The tannins are quite fine, which is especially remarkable considering the wine's intense fruit." 04/26
Wine Advocate
93-95 Points
93-95 Points, William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2025 Cantenac Brown unwinds in the glass with notes of crème de criss, pencil shavings and a deft touch of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, supple and suave, with sweet, powdery tannins and a fleshy, enveloping profile, it's broad-shouldered but judiciously extracted." 04/26
Decanter
92 Points
92 Points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter: "Wonderful fragrance of dried herbs and dried flowers – really perfumed. Blackcurrant and black cherries with some redcurrant and raspberry leaf on the nose. So juicy and alive, really the focus is on bright fruit and tangy acidity – tannins are a touch mineral which give angles with a graphite and liquorice edge but this has real energy and persistence with a slightly bitter, minty herbal and clove spiced finish. Really approachable and easy to drink. This really has lots of flavour concentration. Impressive. 35% of production" 03/26
James Suckling
96-97 Points
96-97 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "Extremely well made, with a solid core of fruit, fine tannins, precision and tension. The new winery is really showing its substance now. Long and persistent. One of the best wines I have had from here." 04/26
Jane Anson
95 Points
95 Points, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux: "Beautifully knitted down, this has energy and character, classical, sculpted, this is very much what you want from great Left Bank classified, excellent quality, cassis and enrobed silky tannins, cappuccino. No sharp acidity here in any way, balanced with just the right amount of reserve. 2nd vintage in the new cellar since inauguration in 2024. José Sanfins director." 04/26
