Critic Reviews
Wine Advocate
96 Points
96 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Beauséjour (Duffau Lagarrosse) has turned out beautifully in bottle. Wafting from the glass with aromas of wild blueberries, raspberries, violets, rose petals and forest floor, framed by a deft application of creamy new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, seamless and layered, with a lively core of fruit, bright acids and fine, powdery tannins, concluding with a long, precise, saline finish. It displays all the structural refinement and vibrancy of flavor that this sector of Saint-Émilion's limestone plateau is capable of." 04/22
Wine Spectator
95-98 Points
95-98 Points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator: "Showy, with boysenberry and plum flavors liberally laced with red licorice notes. The fruit is flamboyant, but this reveals honest grip and solid energy through the finish." 4/19
Decanter
97 Points
97 Points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter: "Gorgeously aromatic and concentrated nose, rich with wild flowers and bramble fruits. Lovely cool blue fruits on the palate, blueberries, plums and black cherries with lashings of graphite, slate and liquorice giving a real spicy menthol mineral tone to the palate. Such complexity with poise and polish. Youthful for sure, but this will be excellent. The texture is so attractive and likeable. This has energy and vibrancy despite still being knitted down, it's just giving a hint of what's to come. Buy and hold on to. Drinking window: 2027-2044" 03/22

93 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2019 Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse opens with good intensity, but its persistence trails off on the mid-palate and finish. I don't see the energy and vibrancy that are such signatures and that were quite present en primeur. Ultimately, the 2019 feels rather hollow on both the mid-palate and finish. Tasted two times." 02/22
James Suckling
95 Points
95 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "Blackberries and black chocolate with licorice and berry highlights. Flowers and crushed stones, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. Plenty going on here. Very subtle and refined for this estate. Needs two or three years to come together. Try after 2024." 01/22
Neal Martin
95 Points
"The 2019 Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse, matured in 60% new oak, has maintained wonderful purity on the nose of ebullient red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, very elegant and poised and perhaps delivering less of the blue fruit element than I noticed from barrel. The cohesive palate conveys exquisite balance, fine, slightly granular tannins and a very subtle ferrous note toward the finish. This is an understated wine that is endowed with ample freshness, and I can see it aging beautifully for 30 or more years." 02/22
