Critic Reviews

Antonio Galloni
94 Points
94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Antonio Galloni: "The 2021 Barolo V. Lazzairasco is redolent of sweet red cherry, chalk, mint, white pepper and blood orange. Brisk acids and beams of supporting tannin give the 2021 its shape and taut, savory profile. Iron, graphite, scorched earth and incense develop later, adding further layers of nuance. I would prefer to cellar this for a few years." 09/25

94 Points
94 Points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com: "A transparent medium ruby hue, the 2021 Barolo Vigna Lazzairasco comes from the estate’s oldest vineyard. Aromas of preserved cranberries, cherries, orange peel, mint, and crushed stones lead the profile. Medium-bodied, it floats across the palate with silky texture and saline sapidity, supported by balanced acidity and subtle cocoa notes. The fruit remains supple and fresh with good persistence and depth. Drink 2026-2040." 04/26
Decanter
96 Points
96 Points, Michaela Morris, Decanter: "If you can’t get your hands on Guido Porro’s exceptional Vignarionda (or even if you can) the Vigna Lazzairasco is a rewarding and affordable sidestep. It is also produced in more ample quantities – 10,000 bottles. Direct and precise but still very young and austere, it suggests bay leaf, fennel and mint blossom. Blood and iron course through the dark, red berry core. Tannins are steely but well padded. They stretch out and give proper bite. Spicy on the finish, this definitely needs more time." 11/25

97 Points, Kerin O'Keefe, KerinOKeefe.com: "Made with 65-year-old vines, the oldest in the entire Lazzarito cru, the compelling Guido Porro 2021 Lazzairasco boasts intense aromas of rose, forest floor, menthol and woodland berry. Always the most austere of the estate’s Barolos, the focused, firmly structured palate has great precision, delivering red cherry, raspberry, licorice, orange peel and mentholated notes alongside a backbone of firm, fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it energized and balanced. Drink 2031-2046. Abv: 15%" 07/25
