The wine is immediately open and beautiful, showing dark fruit, cherry, spice, blue flower and potting soils. The healthy fruit in this vintage shows an almost crunchy quality. With climate changes and weather patterns that are becoming increasingly tropical in nature, hail storms are a reoccurring threat. 97 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2019 Barolo Via Nuova is another gorgeous wine in this tasting. Soaring and broad in its aromatic intensity, the 2019 has it all. The blend of seven sites works so well. Readers will find a seamless, wonderfully complete Barolo. Dried flowers, herbs, mint, rose petal, kirsch and orange zest lend notable complexity throughout. The 2019 is deep and also quite rich, but not at all heavy. There is a touch of oak sweetness, but it just adds to the wine's exotic beauty. Chiara Boschis made some of the most thrilling wines of the vintage. “For me, 2019 opens a new cycle of growing seasons, all marked by intense heat in the summer,” she told me. The 2019s saw two weeks on the skins, followed by malolactic fermentation in steel. “It is important to me to vinify all the lots the same way so that what comes through is the personality of each site. We do a few pump-overs daily and gently turn the rotary tanks.” The wines were racked into oak between December and January and then raised with no racking. Wines from Barolo and Serralunga are aged in casks, while those from Monforte are raised in smaller French oak casks. In recent years, Chiara Boschis has been at the top.
