Barbaresco Bric Turot Prunotto 2021 (750ML)

A mild, wet winter with some snow left 2021 with deep groundwater reserves, and while light frost in mid-April cut yields, it did no harm to quality. Fine weather held through summer without heat spikes, and cool nights at harvest brought ripeness and freshness into balance; picking ran from September 25 to October 11. Bric Turot sits on a bricco, local dialect for a hilltop, in Treiso, and its shape gives the vines varied exposures. Prunotto macerated for about 10 days, finished malolactic before winter and aged the wine for roughly 12 months in barrels of different sizes, then a year in bottle. Bright ruby, it shows wild berries, white pepper, clove, licorice and orange peel, with pine and mint on top, over a velvety, firm-cored palate. Critics suggest drinking it through 2033. Try it with tajarin and sage butter, veal agnolotti or braised beef cheeks.
