Bandol Rose Terrebrune 2015 (750ML)

Brown clay studded with limestone pebbles, over a bedrock of blue limestone, is the ground beneath Terrebrune's 2015 Bandol rosé. Mourvèdre leads at 50%, with Grenache and Cinsault splitting the rest at 25% each. In the glass it is a pale orange, with an intensely perfumed nose of red berries, citrus and a heady floral lift. Blood orange and red currant fill the palate and deepen with air; there is serious density here, balanced by bracing freshness, and the finish is clean and persistent, with a last note of honeysuckle. Focus, not fruitiness, is what defines it. Set it beside bouillabaisse, a tian of summer vegetables, or a full aïoli platter.
