Critic Reviews

Antonio Galloni
94 Points
94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2023 Collina Dalla Valle is fabulous. Aromatic, vibrant and punchy, the 2023 is an especially fine Collina. Crushed flowers, mint, red cherry/plum fruit, mocha, new leather and licorice flesh out in the glass. The 2023 has all the Dalla Valle signatures in a style that offers tons of immediacy and appeal. Floral overtones lift the finish. I would love to own this. Superb." 11/25
Jeb Dunnuck
93-95 Points
93-95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com: "Based on 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Cabernet Franc and aged 23 months in 50% new French oak, the 2023 Collina offers up juicy, bright Bing cherries, cassis, graphite, and chocolate. It's medium to full-bodied, with beautiful purity, balanced richness, good mid-palate density, and ripe tannins that flow to outstanding length. This is always a beautiful, solid wine that's well worth its going rate and will drink well over the coming 10-15 years." 12/25
Wine Advocate
93 Points
93 Points, Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Cabernet Franc, primarily from younger vines, the 2023 Collina Dalla Valle Red Wine is an excellent effort, boasting delicate floral nuances set against a core of red raspberries and framed by cedar and vanilla notes. It's medium- to full-bodied, supple and velvety in texture, perhaps a bit too open-knit for extended cellaring, but it's charming and accessible, with softly dusty tannins and hints of mocha on the finish." 07/26
Decanter
94 Points
94 Points, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter: "Historically sourced from the younger vines on the property – now well over 10 years old – this is the estate’s freshest and most approachable wine, crafted for earlier drinking while retaining the thread line of Dalla Valle’s structure, integrity, and capacity to age. The Cabernet Franc comes from blocks lower down the hillside, while the Cabernet Sauvignon is drawn from parcels surrounding the house. Yields across the estate remain relatively low. The wine is fermented with native yeasts, including proprietary strains cultivated from the property, and aged for 23 months in 50% new French oak. Unfined and unfiltered, this is the first vintage produced entirely on site at the fully refurbished winery, completed in time for the 2023 harvest. A powerful yet finely tuned wine, it delivers impressive freshness and energy. The tannin structure is superfine while a gravelly mineral component supports ultra-plush red and black fruit with hints of black liquorice, sagebrush, and black olive, bringing a fresh, savoury dimension to the full-bodied, lingering finish. (Drink between 2026-2035)" 03/26
