Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Fay Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 (750ML)

Every barrel was new French oak for the 2022 Fay, which spent 20 months in wood before bottling. Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars builds this Cabernet Sauvignon with 8% Cabernet Franc, a small share that keeps the fruit bright and the frame fresh. 2022 was a forward, early-giving vintage, and Fay fits the pattern, with its charm up front rather than locked behind structure. Aromas move between red and dark fruit (raspberry, ripe plum and a twist of blood orange) with cedar, pipe tobacco, a floral note and pencil shavings filling in as it breathes. The palate is supple and layered, elegant rather than heavy, and the tannins gather gradually toward the finish. Critics expect it to show well through the late 2030s. Open it with a dry-aged ribeye, grilled lamb loin or a wedge of aged Gouda.
