Critic Reviews

Jancis Robinson
17.5/20 Points
17.5 Points, Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com: "Lustrous mid ruby with bricky tinges. Elegant red-fruit nose that rises up from the glass like a cloud and with subtle complex spice notes. Saline, stony notes too. Very fresh and suave and with spectacular balance. Very fine, structuring tannins. Long, very fresh and with a slow build-up of red fruit on the finish. Not ready yet, even if its elegance is beguiling. The style is much more traditional Biondi-Santi than the general opinion is about these wines now. (WS) (Drink between 2028-2044)" 10/25

97 Points
97 Points, James Button, Decanter: "Biondi-Santi's 2020 is a superb effort; bright, energetic and very fresh, with a waft of herbs, succulent cherry and strawberry fruits, and fine, grainy tannins. Drinking surprisingly well now but with the stuffing to reward cellaring. (Drink between 2025-2045)" 11/25
Wine Advocate
95 Points
95 Points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Silky and fine in texture, the Biondi-Santi 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is more subdued at this stage, requiring additional time to fully flesh out. With air, it gains definition and aromatic clarity, revealing floral tones of wild rose alongside light spice and a subtle mineral or graphite note on the finish. The floral dimension stands out nicely. The 2020 growing season was defined by a cold winter with snowfall on March 23 followed by timely June rainfall that supported the vegetative cycle, allowing harvest to conclude before late-September rains. Favoring finesse over power, the vintage aligns naturally with Biondi-Santi’s traditionally restrained style, shaped by an estate philosophy that prioritizes balance, transparency and longevity. Fermentation was carried out with indigenous yeasts, and the wine aged for 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks, in keeping with long-standing cellar practice." 01/26
