Jeb Dunnuck
97-100 Points
97-100 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com: "Another level of complexity emerges from the 2022 Côte Rôtie La Landonne, offering blackberries, currants, wood smoke, cured meats, and leather-like nuances This powerful, concentrated, straight-up massive Côte Rôtie (100% Syrah) was aged 42 months in new oak and shows classic La Landonne character, with beautiful depth and richness, as well as building tannins. There's some of the accessibility of the vintage here, yet this is nevertheless going to require a solid decade of cellaring. This reference point estate continues to produce brilliant wines, yet subtle, not insignificant changes are underway. First, there's a new Côte Rôtie La La in the lineup, the Côte Rôtie La Reynarde, created in honor of Philippe and Eve's twin sons, Etienne and Charles. Sourced from a small parcel in the Fongeant lieu-dit planted in 2015, it is 100% Syrah, not destemmed, and vinified with punch-downs only, similar to La Turque. It will see the same 40+ months in new barrels as its siblings. While 2022 will be the first vintage released, I've been lucky enough to taste this cuvée since 2019, and stylistically it fits nicely between La Turque and La Landonne, unquestionably meriting its place alongside the other La Las." 05/25

96 Points, Matt Walls, Decanter: "Extremely spicy, iron filings, graphite and blue steak. Concentrated, huge, dense and brooding. This has a massive tannic structure and it’s dry and savoury, but the alcohol is in check. Extremely introverted, this will take a very long time to come round. Tannins are a bit lacking in elegance this year, but these might be combed out during élevage. Whole-bunch fermented, from lieu-dit La Landonne. At the beginning of its 40 months in new French oak barriques. (Drink between 2038-2055)" 09/23

95-98 Points, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous: "The fabulous 2022 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne unwinds with boatloads of ripe black fruits, graphite, mocha, wood smoke and a pinch of vanilla. Bold and generous, its massive tannic structure will require plenty of patience in the cellar. At this stage, I do not see the 2022 reaching the stratospheric heights of the magical 2020, but if all comes together as it should, the 2022 should prove to be a rock solid La Landonne with a long life ahead. (Drink between 2037-2054)" 03/24

18 Points, Alistair Cooper, JancisRobinson.com: "Cask sample. Huge smoky and meaty notes, such power as well. The palate is incredibly dense and intense with smoke, game, gravel, graphite and dark fruits, almost kirsch. The tannins are vertical and layered. The oak is well integrated and well balanced with the tannic core. Such a baby and has an underpinning core of earthy minerality. (AC) (Drink between 2032-2045)" 10/23
