Barbaresco Bordini Fontanabianca 2022 (750ML)

Vines of 50 to 60 years anchor Fontanabianca's Barbaresco Bordini, made entirely from Nebbiolo grown in the Bordini vineyard in Neive. The grapes come in by hand from Guyot-trained rows on clay-limestone and are fermented traditionally before a stay in wooden barrels and vats, followed by several months' rest in bottle. The 2022 is medium ruby and reserved on the nose, where dried cherry, a stony note and resinous herbs lead into leather and porcini. The fruit is ripe and still fresh, but the tannins carry real grip and take the lead toward the end, giving the wine a firm, full close. It rewards patience; critics see it opening up from 2026 and drinking well through 2040. Match it with brasato, roast pheasant or aged Parmigiano.
