Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Cuvee Prestige Janasse 2024 (750ML)

Only about 158 cases were made of the 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Prestige. The Sabon family has owned Domaine de la Janasse since 1967, and siblings Christophe and Isabelle Sabon run it today. The blend is 70% Roussanne with 15% each of Grenache Blanc and Clairette, aged 12 months in French oak, 20% of it new, with the rest in used barrels and concrete. Christophe is especially fond of his 2024s, a vintage whose wines here put elegance first. Medium gold in the glass, it offers ripe stone fruit, honeyed blossoms, orange flower and a light note of warm pastry. Medium- to full-bodied, the palate is seamless and layered, with fine balance and a rising finish. Critics give it two decades or more of life. Butter-poached lobster, seared scallops, bouillabaisse or a mature Comté would be a fine match.
