Critic Reviews

Vinous Media
96 Points
96 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous: "The 2023 Chardonnay Chehalem Mountain blows off an attractive hint of reduction as crushed stones and flint mix with sesame before giving way to nuances of vanilla spice and crushed yellow apples. A stunning core minerality is beautifully offset by fresh acidity and ripe orchard fruits, coming across as nearly salty yet juicy to the core. The 2023 resonates with tension, so youthful today, leaving a subtly chewy sensation and saline resonance." 07/25

96 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: “Aromas of meringue, vanilla, dried apples and flint are more than evident. Medium-bodied with chewy yet integrated phenolics that run up and down the palate. Racy finish. Drink or hold.” 10/25

97 Points, Clive Pursehouse, Decanter: "Such aromatic intensity, whoa. The "Black Chardonnay" method of hyper-oxidation is becoming the en vogue approach in the Willamette, and it owes a lot to the success of the 00 wines. Dazzling scents of crushed stone, wild mint and a purity of preserved lemons. The palate leans into salty minerality, grilled smoky lemon wedge and umami tones evocative of toasted hazelnuts, and ferrous mineral notes. Impressive complexity, as layers of intensity unfold. One to cellar, for sure. From one of Oregon’s original vineyards, the 1969 planted Chehalem Mountain Vineyard, established by Dick Erath with the help of David Lett, a stone' throw from the iconic Ribbon Ridge estate of Beaux Fréres." 01/26
