Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2014 (750ML)

The 2014 season in the grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs produced bright, approachable Chardonnay with good precision, and Taittinger's Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs carries that character in a narrow, focused form. Dosage is 9 grams per liter, and the wine is still in its youth. Lemon curd and candied citrus come first, then grapefruit, clementine, white peach and a hint of pineapple, with white flowers, chamomile and fresh mint on the nose. Early notes of brioche and brown sugar are starting to emerge. The bubbles are soft and fine, and the finish runs long and clean. Critics find it drinkable now with plenty of room to develop, their windows stretching into the 2040s. Open it with oysters, sole meunière or butter-poached lobster.
