Critic Reviews
Jasper Morris
94-97 Points
94-97 Points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy: "Bright deep purple with lots of glycerol legs. 40-45% whole bunch vinification. It does show but under cover, then a few more tannins and the drier patch which goes with whole bunch vinification. But what a sensational quality of fruit, the strawberries are dancing over the palate. Very precise and very persistent."
Burghound
92-94 Points
92-94 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "Enough wood to mention frames the exotically spicy aromas that are also markedly floral in character on the dark berry and tea scents. The sleek, stony and gorgeously textured medium-bodied flavors possess plenty of dry extract that helps to buffer the notably firmer tannic spine shaping the youthfully austere and strikingly long finale. I like the balance and while this beauty could use better depth, that should just be a matter of bottle aging. (Drink starting 2035)" 04/25
John Gilman
95 Points
95 Points, John Gilman, View from the Cellar: "The 2023 Petits Monts is gorgeous this year. The beautiful bouquet hops from the glass in a black fruity blaze of cassis, black raspberries, a lovely array of Vosne spice tones, duck, a complex base of dark soil tones, woodsmoke, espresso, a touch of pain épice and spicy new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, deep and tangy, with superb complexity and grip, finegrained tannins, a great core of black fruit and a very long, soil-driven and impeccably balanced finish. This will need plenty of time in the cellar to blossom properly, but it is going to be a brilliant wine. 2039-2085+" 01/25 #115
Neal Martin
93-95 Points
93-95 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: " The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru, owned by Véronique Drouhin herself, has a wonderful, minerally bouquet that delivers all the transparency and Pinoté you want from this propitious vineyard. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, a wonderful sense of symmetry and a precise, quite spicy/green pepper-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. This is within touching distance of the superlative 2022. (Drink between 2027-2050)" 01/25
Wine Advocate
93-94 Points
93-94 Points, William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Always one of the highlights of the range, the 2023 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts is a beauty, bursting with notes of sweet red berries, plums, rose petals, orange zest and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and suave, it's perfumed and refined, with lively acids and a saline finish." 01/25
