Deep and potent, with tons of persistence, the 2022 has so much to offer. Gravel, incense, lavender, mocha and dried herbs are some of the many aromas and flavors that open with a bit of coaxing. The 2022 is a very young wine, one that requires at least a few years in bottle, but it is quite captivating just the same. This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot performed admirably...This is a very strong set of wines from Le Pupille and proprietor Elisabetta Geppetti. The Morellino Riserva and Poggio Valente are excellent wines that capture plenty of vintage 2022 intensity. Saffredi, the estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon-based flagship, fared exceptionally well. Elisabetta Geppetti's son, Ettore – in just his third vintage overseeing the winemaking without the experienced hand of ex-consultant Luca d'Attoma – has beautifully interpreted the vintage.
