Madame de Beaucaillou 2023 (750ML)

From the Haut-Médoc, the 2023 Madame de Beaucaillou is built on energy and freshness, with less Petit Verdot in the blend than the 2022. Yields came in at 55 hl/ha, and the wine spent 12 months in barrel with 20% new oak, finishing at a pH of 3.6. The ripeness of the year shows in fruit that runs from red toward blue. Wild raspberry and rose petal lead on the nose, edged with cedar, spice and a wisp of charcoal. Medium-bodied and lively, it brings a peppery bite and firm, fine-grained tannins that keep it upright and taut; the finish is still a little tight, though the detail is already there. Open it alongside steak frites, a burger topped with aged cheddar, or roast pork loin.
