Chambolle Musigny Les Charmes Bertheau 2022 (750ML)

On the northern half of the sizeable Les Charmes premier cru, Bertheau works 0.66 hectares over limestone. Like the domaine's other premier crus, it sees just 20% new oak, and the 2022 carries a moderate 13.5% alcohol. Bright and fresh, it offers mixed red berries with lavender and an exotic, tea-like note. The medium-weight palate is supple and inviting, with a little extra drive, and it finishes tangy and dusty with a faint cherry-stone bitterness that keeps it from ever feeling sweet. Critics credit this cuvée with a strong aging record and suggest opening the 2022 from 2029. Good partners include pork tenderloin with sage, a board of jambon persillé and saucisson, or lentils with Toulouse sausage.
