It's a delight to taste Guillot Clauzel every year but none more so than in 2022, where the wine is full of focused, black berry fruit, mingling with notes of silex, gravel, brine and savory, woody herbs. Still firmly under the radar, this is an absolute delight in 2022. Château Guillot-Clauzel is a Pomerol estate from the winemaker behind Le Pin and Vieux Château Certan, that is currently sold at a fraction of the price. The estate is tiny, 6 acres sitting on a South facing slope just a few hundred yards from Le Pin itself. Its vines are planted on gravel and clay, including a section of old Merlot vines planted on the blue clay for which the appellation is famous. 83% Merlot & 17% Cabernet Franc

93-95 Points
93-95 Points, William Kelley, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The best wine that Guillaume Thinepont has produced to date at this small estate is the 2022 Guillot Clauzel, an attractive blend of 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc that exhibits aromas of blackberries, violets, iris and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and polished, with supple tannins and a suave, seamless, perfumed profile, Thienpont's decision to reduce the amount of new oak used to only 30% makes for even greater purity and expressiveness." 4/23
