A moderate summer and a rainy spring favored a slow but gradual ripening of the grapes, who’s later harvest gave the vines a longer richer ripening. The Sangiovese grapes reveled in the cooler growing season and emerged with an elegant, aromatic and crisp acidity. Brilliant ruby red color speak to the red berry notes (cherries and plums). With its perfectly balanced flavors, supple tannins, and vibrant acidity, this wine offers a captivating experience. Notes of dried and candied fruit, spices, tobacco, and dark chocolate linger on the palate. A pairing with pheasant, mushroom ravioli or eggplant parmesan would be heavenly.

This wine has always marched to its own drumbeat, and this newest release is no exception. A warmer microclimate characterizes the spot where these vineyards are located, and the fruit is opulent, ripe and exuberant as a result. The Antinori house style also comes through, and the wine has a more contemporary or international outlook as a result.
