Silk-textured from the first sip, Three Sticks’ 2023 Gap’s Crown Pinot Noir puts perfume and lift first. A quarter of the fruit from this Petaluma Gap vineyard was fermented as whole clusters, and the wine finishes at 14.2% alcohol. The long, cool 2023 season at Gap’s Crown comes through in its brisk, mouthwatering acidity. Bing cherry, blood orange and rose petal open the nose, with mint, cinnamon and black tea in support. Fine, supple tannins carry the fruit across a vivid palate, and the finish tightens into sharp focus. Critics see it drinking well from 2026 into the mid-2030s. Match it with seared duck breast, cedar-plank salmon, or mushroom bourguignon.
