Thomas Rivers Brown’s Rivers-Marie leases Bodega Thieriot, a nine-acre vineyard on Freestone Ridge in the West Sonoma Coast, next door to Platt and Occidental. It was planted in 2018 entirely to the Calera clone, using cuttings from Platt, and Brown credits a run of wet winters with bringing the young vines to the point of making a complete wine. The 2024 is 100% Pinot Noir. After a late, difficult 2023, the season returned to a normal rhythm; heat spikes in July and October needed managing, but there were no major shocks, and the berries came in large and juicy. The wine is generous and expansive, with dark red fruit, black raspberry, white pepper, rose petal and an iron edge, carried by bright acidity and fine tannins. Critics place its peak between now and 2038. Try it with duck breast, seared tuna or roast beets with goat cheese.

97 Points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com: "Composed of 100% Calera, the 2024 Pinot Noir Bodega Thieriot Vineyard pours a youthful but slightly deeper ruby color, especially compared to the Summa. The nose shows notes of pine, bright black raspberries, grenadine, cardamom, and baking spice. Energy-packed, it is compact and sporty, with orange oil citrus, mouthwatering iron tones, and chiseled definition that carries through the persistent finish. Give it a couple years, but it has great drive. Drink 2027-2042." 06/26

97 Points, Antonio Galloni, Antonio Galloni: "The 2024 Pinot Noir Bodega Thieriot Vineyard is one of the very finest wines I have tasted off this site, which was planted in 2018 in one of the most pedigreed districts on the West Sonoma Coast. Broad, sweeping and dramatic, the 2024 soars out of the glass. Dark red-toned fruit, graphite, white pepper, blood orange, mint and rose petal are all vividly sketched. Bodega Thieriot was planted with Calera cuttings from Platt. It's a stunning wine in every way." 01/26
