Brothers Lodovico and Piero Antinori founded Tenuta di Biserno in 2001 with their nephew, Niccolò Marzichi Lenzi, now the estate's owner, and Biserno is its flagship red. The vineyards lie at Bibbona on the Tuscan coast, in Upper Maremma. The 2022 is 32% Cabernet Franc, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, hand-picked and sorted before destemming. A dry, warm run through mid-August kept disease away and trimmed yields slightly; unexpected August rain then relieved the vines and helped the later-ripening Cabernets and Petit Verdot. Deep and full-bodied, it shows plum, pomegranate and red berries with a forest-floor note, lifted by menthol and fresh herbs. Dense, silky tannins and bright acidity drive a long, crisp finish. Critics consider it approachable from 2026. Serve it alongside roast venison loin, pheasant or aged Tuscan pecorino.

Critic Reviews

James Suckling
97 Points
97 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "Intensity and elegance dominate in this wine. The nose shows aromatic herbs, eucalyptus, bramble fruit and sweet spices. Full-bodied, it has firm, velvety tannins, refreshing acidity, a slightly chalky finish and a long, savory aftertaste. Drinkable now, but best in two or three years..." 05/25

95 Points, Antonio Galloni, VINOUS: "The 2022 Biserno is soft, vibrant and inviting. Silky contours and supple fruit lend tons of immediacy. Plum, pomegranate, blood orange and menthol are nicely amplified in the glass. The 2022 signals a transition towards a more restrained style than in the past...Hints of spice linger on the exceptionally finessed finish...." 02/25
