A cool spring delayed the start of 2024 at Roserock, but a warm, dry summer and fall ripened the fruit evenly, with little disease pressure and bright acidity intact. The vineyard sits at the southern tip of the Eola-Amity Hills on old volcanic soils, cooled by the Van Duzer corridor, and is LIVE-certified sustainable. This Pinot Noir is a selection from the estate's 35 blocks, each hand-picked, sorted and fermented separately, and Véronique Drouhin steers it toward finesse rather than the muscle the area is known for. Black cherry, raspberry and violet lead, shaded by rose petal, dried herbs, cocoa and a hint of cedar; the palate is pure and vibrant, with strawberry, plum, fine-grained tannins and a long, poised finish. Critics expect it to come into its own from the mid-2030s. Seared salmon is the obvious match, with duck breast or coq au vin close behind.

Critic Reviews

James Suckling
95 Points
95 Points, Courtney Humiston, JamesSuckling.com: "Wonderful aromas of lavender, roses and pure red fruit. The palate is silky and elegant, with mineral tension and flavors of pomegranates and wild berries. Fine tannins, tea and hibiscus in the long, floral finish. Medium-bodied. Drink or hold." 03/26

94 Points, Tim Fish, Wine Spectator: "Graceful yet dynamic, with multilayered raspberry and blueberry flavors framed by fresh violet, orange peel and cinnamon as this builds richness and tension toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2035. 22,500 cases made." 01/26
