San Vincenzo Anselmi 2023 (750ML)

Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignier Gris together make up 40% of San Vincenzo, with Garganega at 30% and the balance drawn from Chardonnay, Goldtraminer, Pinot Bianco, a Manzoni cross, Aromera and Riesling Resistente. It is Roberto Anselmi's take on a white from the Soave hills, grown on a hilltop between Monteforte and Soave where the soils are volcanic and calcareous, and the vines are trained both on Guyot and as bush vines. The grapes are pressed gently, the must is cold-settled and fermented cool, and the wine then rests six months in steel with its lees stirred weekly. That lees work gives some breadth to an otherwise bright, aromatic style: tropical fruit and white blossom on the nose, a green edge of wild herbs, then pineapple and citrus on a lively palate. Pour it with fritto misto, trofie al pesto or grilled prawns.
