Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso Antinori 2023 (750ML)

Guado al Tasso 2023 was picked in sequence: Merlot in early September, Cabernet Franc in the first half of the month, and Cabernet Sauvignon at its end. Budbreak came early, on March 20; July heat slowed growth before veraison, late-August Atlantic showers refreshed the vines, and a dry, sunny September completed ripening. Marchesi Antinori has made the wine since 1990 from vineyards at the foot of the Bolgheri amphitheater, varying the three-grape blend each year. Parcels were split into blocks and fermented separately in steel for 18 to 25 days; after malolactic in barrique, the final blend was chosen in February and aged in new French barriques until bottling in July 2025. Plum, blackberry and cassis meet tobacco, licorice, mint and blood orange, with dense yet fine tannins and brisk acidity. Critics expect it to open around 2028. It wants dry-aged strip steak, beef Wellington or aged Parmigiano-Reggiano.
