Etienne Guigal founded this house in 1946; his son Marcel and grandson Philippe lead it today. Since the 2020 vintage the family has moved its barrel sourcing from Seguin-Moreau to tighter-grained Chassin oak, aiming for a lighter oak imprint, and the 2023 La Doriane spent 9 months entirely in new French barrels. The 2023 season delivered ripe fruit and larger yields without costing the wines their clarity. Grilled peach, apricot and orange blossom lead the nose, with jasmine, honeysuckle and a light toasty spice underneath. The palate is round, dense and concentrated, finishing long on lemon zest and a hint of stone. Critics see it at its best through the early 2030s. It stands up to lobster with beurre blanc, Thai green curry or roast pork with apricots.

94 Points
94 Points, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous: "Matured for 9 months in 100% new French oak, the 2023 Condrieu La Doriane takes off with toasty subtleties, mingling pristine white peach, apricot and jasmine with a touch of honeysuckle. Packing elevated flavor concentration on the dense palate, the 2023 is an outgoing, articulate La Doriane. Round and complex, it walks off the stage with a touch of lemon flesh and wet stone on the long, nuanced finish." 11/24

98 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com: The killer 2023 Condrieu La Doriane boasts gorgeous orange blossom, honeyed flowers, toasted spice, and grilled peach aromatics that build incrementally with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, focused, and pure, this brilliant effort spent 9 months in 100% new French oak and represents the crème de la crème of the vintage. I'd recommend drinking bottles over the coming 7-8 years, although it will keep longer. Drink 2025-2033." 05/25

95 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "How can you resist the fresh honeycomb, honeysuckle and toasted brioche aromas and controlled extravagance of this high-end Condrieu? Rich stone fruit aromas on the expansive, medium- to full-bodied palate, where the freshness of the vintage deftly lifts the long, generous finish. Drink or hold." 05/25
