2024 was a generous year on the Sonoma Coast, with healthy crops and large berries, and at Joy Road that abundance comes through as sheer intensity. Paul Sloan developed the vineyard for Terry Adams on the far western, most exposed edge of the appellation, where cold coastal winds keep the acidity high. Thomas Rivers Brown makes it as a 100% Chardonnay, and this vintage went to bottle in December 2025. The wine is big and expansive, filling the palate with citrus and yuzu, white flowers and a hint of reduction, all wrapped in rich layers of fruit, while a firm line of acid keeps everything in frame. It rewards patience; critics would hold it a few years and see it drinking through 2034. Lobster with drawn butter, pork loin with morels or a wedge of aged Comté would all suit it well.

95 Points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com: "The 2024 Chardonnay Joy Road Vineyard pours a bright medium yellow hue. Paul Sloan developed the vineyard for Terry Adams, and the wine is floral but also spicy with focused reduction. It has very good clarity in the glass, with wisteria, white pepper spice, melon, and quince. The palate is full and elegant, leaning more floral, with key lime and a wet stone texture. Drink over the coming 10 years, though it’s already very appealing upfront. Drink 2026-2036." 06/26

95 Points, Antonio Galloni, Antonio Galloni: "The 2024 Chardonnay Joy Road Vineyard is another seriously impressive wine in this range. Powerful, ample and explosive, the 2024 covers every inch of the palate with its layers of fruit and rich, enveloping personality. The balance of fruit intensity, acid and overall structure is just so compelling. I would cellar this for at least a few years. High-class." 01/26
