Bergström takes Sigrid through full malolactic fermentation, yet the 2023 keeps its acidity bright and taut. The fruit is 100% Chardonnay, hand-picked from the estate’s vineyards in three corners of the Willamette Valley: the Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge and the Chehalem Mountains. It aged 18 months, 12 in French oak barrels and six more in stainless steel. The nose is smoky and complex, with white peach, Meyer lemon, honeysuckle, toasted hazelnut and wet stone. The palate is round and generous, with orchard fruit, white tea and almond carried on a firm citrus line. The finish is long and salt-edged, with lingering lemon and a fresh herbal lift. Critics suggest opening it from 2026 and holding bottles as late as 2038. Pair it with Dungeness crab, pan-roasted halibut in beurre blanc or warm gougères.

Critic Reviews

James Suckling
97 Points
97 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "An opulent and graceful full-bodied wine with a pleasing mix of plush stone fruit, citrus and citrus peel. The aromas are beautiful and decadent, with baked citrus, pastry crust, wet stones and white flowers. Nice concentration and tension on the palate, with cleansing acidity and a very long finish. Delicious now, but built to age." 12/25
