Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, third generation of the family behind Sassicaia, founded Bodega Chacra in 2004 in Patagonia's Río Negro, a marginal climate well south of Argentina's better-known regions. Since 2017 he has made Chardonnay with his friend Jean-Marc Roulot of Domaine Roulot. The 2024 Mainque comes from three biodynamically farmed parcels and ferments in neutral barrel, with maturation split between 30% amphorae and 70% oak. It is a lean, high-strung Chardonnay: tart green apple, lemon peel and a green, celery-leaf lift on the nose, then a medium-bodied palate of apple, citrus and stony minerality that narrows into a long, salty finish. A natural partner for oysters, halibut crudo or sole meunière.

97 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "So linear and driven, with so much tension and intensity. Aromas of sliced apples, lemons and stones. Medium-bodied with flavors of apples, seashells, lemons and crushed stones. It goes on and on. Matured in 30% amphorae and 70% oak. Fantastic. Drink or hold." 02/25
