Built on the 2020 harvest, Billecart-Salmon’s Brut Rosé is a Chardonnay-led blend, with Pinot Noir and Meunier making up the rest and a small portion of red wine added for color. Cellar master Florent Nys draws on young reserve wines to keep the blend fresh, and dosage stays under 5 grams per liter. It pours a pale salmon pink, with red currant, red cherry, raspberry and white peach, a touch of orange, hibiscus and rose petal, and a light pinch of green peppercorn. The Meunier rounds out the palate, and the overall effect is bright, light on sugar and easy to enjoy, with a faint chalky note at the close. The half bottle is sized for an aperitif for two: smoked salmon blinis, prosciutto and melon, tuna crudo or shrimp tempura.

Critic Reviews

Wine Spectator
92 Points
92 Points, Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator: "A lively rose Champagne with a pleasing, citrusy juiciness to the flavors of steeped raspberry, white peach and blanched almond. A subtle thread of chalky minerality winds through the finish. Drink now through 2023." 12/20

93 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "Cinnamon and dried nutmeg add to the experience of bread dough and rose petals. Flavorful on the medium-bodied palate and finely poised with bright acidity. Medium-long on the finish. Drink now." 05/19
Wine Advocate
93 Points
93 Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pale yet intense pink in color the Billecart-Salmon NV Brut Rosé is pure, fresh and intense on the nose, with lovely raspberry aromas, refreshing citrus zest flavors and great definition. On the palate this is a pure, light and vinous rosé with great finesse and a long, well-structured and even juicy finish. This iconic rosé blends 40% Chardonnay with 30% Pinot Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne and the southern slopes of Epernay and 30% Pinot Noir (with a small part added as red wine) from the Montagne de Reims and the Grande Vallée de la Marne. Fabulous. Tasted from lot L 142B804 45564, which is based on the 2015 harvest and 40% reserve wines and was disgorged in February 2018. Tasted November 2018." 12/18

92 Points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast: "The palest of rosés, this is an elegant, structured wine. Its dryness is balanced by the fine apple and red-currant fruits and the strong sense of minerality. Fragrant and lightly structured, this fine bottling is ready to drink." 12/20
