Kelley Fox Weber Vineyard Pinot Noir Dundee Hills 2023 (750ML)

Block 5 of the Weber Vineyard, off Worden Hill Road in the Dundee Hills, holds own-rooted Pommard-clone vines planted in 1983, and this bottling comes from them alone. They grow in volcanic Jory soil, ringed by native oaks, big-leaf maples and mixed forest. Kelley Fox hand-picked the 100% Pinot Noir on September 23, 2023, kept 30% of the clusters whole, fermented on wild yeast and aged it in neutral 228-liter French barrels, bottling unfined and unfiltered on July 8, 2024. A warm, even season brought full ripeness without costing the fruit its natural acidity. Raspberry and dried rose petals lead, over an earthy, savory undertone; the palate is medium in weight, fruit-forward and supple, with ripe tannin. Only 427 cases were made, and one critic sees 15 to 20 years ahead of it. Seared duck breast, cedar-plank salmon or a wild mushroom tart will meet it well.
