Zachys Cellar School: Production 101

Zachys Cellar School: Production 101

6-7PM | See how decisions in the cellar shape every wine you drink.

How much can you truly learn about a wine before seeing the label? Inspired by the blind tasting exercises practiced by the Seysses family during harvest at Domaine Dujac, this advanced seminar challenges participants to think deductively rather than instinctively.

Through a series of progressively revealed clues—from Old World versus New World to country, region, and grape variety—we'll uncover the remarkable stylistic conversation between Burgundy's Domaine Dujac and California's Snowden Vineyards. More than a blind tasting, this is an exercise in understanding philosophy, place, and family legacy through the glass.

Attendees will receive 10% off their same-day purchase in-store. Valid on full price, in-stock items only.

Classes will be hosted by Davis Steller, who has worked with wine from the vineyard to the cellar to the dining room. He's farmed at California estates including Mayacamas, Oakville Ranch, and Laurel Glen; made wine at Diamond Creek and Aubert in Napa, as well as in Umbria; and worked as a sommelier at Blue Hill. That range gives him a considered perspective on wine — from how it's grown, to how it's made, to how it arrives, finally, in the glass.
