To many wine drinkers, Bordeaux is simply "Bordeaux." Yet the Gironde Estuary divides one of the world's most important wine regions into two remarkably different identities. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates one bank; Merlot defines the other. Gravel gives way to clay, structure yields to generosity, and centuries of history unfold in the glass.
Through a comparative tasting of both sides of the estuary, we'll discover why Bordeaux remains the benchmark against which so much of the wine world continues to measure itself.

Classes will be hosted by Davis Steller, who has worked with wine from the vineyard to the cellar to the dining room. He's farmed at California estates including Mayacamas, Oakville Ranch, and Laurel Glen; made wine at Diamond Creek and Aubert in Napa, as well as in Umbria; and worked as a sommelier at Blue Hill. That range gives him a considered perspective on wine — from how it's grown, to how it's made, to how it arrives, finally, in the glass.
