Critic Reviews

Antonio Galloni
95 Points
95 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2021 Barolo Enrico VI is especially fine this year. Rich and ample, the 2021 is endowed with notable presence and structure. Black cherry, plum, licorice, leather, incense and melted road tar all build in a deep, statuesque Barolo with tons of Villero personality. Sage, lavender and a whole range of deeply-pitched balsamic notes wrap around the huge, resonant finish. This is impressive." 01/25
Kerin O`Keefe
95 Points
95 Points, Kerin O'Keefe, KerinOKeefe.com: "From the estate’s vineyard in the township of Castiglione Falletto, the firmly structured 2021 Enrico VI opens with aromas of forest floor, exotic spice, menthol and new leather. Vibrant and youthfully austere, the palate features ripe red cherry, blood orange, star anise and mint supported by a backbone of fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity fuels its intensity. Drink 2033–2046. Abv: 14%" 02/25
James Suckling
96 Points
96 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: "This shows tar, licorice, dark fruit and dried flowers. The palate is juicy, with firm tannins and good freshness. It’s very harmonious and solid overall. The finish is chewy and flavorful. Better from 2028." 01/25
Jancis Robinson
17.5+/20 Points
17.5+ Points, Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com: "Grapes come from Villero in Castiglione Falletto. Mid-to-deep crimson. At first, the fruit is a little caught up with the oak but then opens up. Perfumed and intense. The same wonderful leggerezza as the Gattera of the same vintage. Vibrant raspberry fruit with long, gravelly tannins. Cool and composed. (WS) (Drink between 2026-2038)" 11/24
Wine Advocate
97 Points
97 Points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Enrico VI draws its fruit from Villero in Castiglione Faletto. The soils are rich in iron and active limestone, and the wine therefore transmits a sense of electricity and tension that is always unique to this site. The Cordero di Montezemolo 2021 Barolo Enrico VI delivers crushed stone to frame dark fruit, cherry, redcurrant and violet. This wine is quite angular, and it delivers more dimension than the Gattera or certainly the Monfalletto. You can also count on a longer aging window for the Enrico VI. This is a release of 7,200 bottles." 06/25
Jeb Dunnuck
94+ Points
94+ Points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com: "The 2021 Barolo Vigna Enrico VI is resinous and brooding, with notes of fresh tobacco, menthol, blackberries, and polished leather. The palate is savory and rich, with a full-bodied feel, ripe tannins, a saturating savory feel with salty earth and dark stones, and a long finish. A robustly styled Barolo, it has a lot to offer over the next 15 or so years. (Drink between 2025-2040)" 05/25
